Cardboard Boat Races

DSC03871, originally uploaded by msceejay2000.

I had fun making the boat. The boys were so happy that their 2nd boat didn't sink super fast like their first boat. But then they were board and rooting for it to sink so they could go eat. Made it to the round of 6.

Grateful

Grateful, originally uploaded by msceejay2000.

Had a nice time at the Wellsville Library with Eliza. Took a few Instagram photos of the crafting fun.

Patterned papers are MME Lost and Found and Lost and Found Two. Love the little banners that came with my MME Nutmeg so I tried to recreate them here... I like the pre-mades better:)

Tiny alphas are cosmo cricket. Cardstock is Coredinations.

Also played with the typewriter and the Gazelle. I feel a little too trendy today with the banner, peek a boo, blackout title and the manual typewriter journaling. LOL

All the paper is "Life of the Party" an older, still wonderful line from BG.

The sticker, banner garland, 3 out of 4 of the Washis and the patterned paper are all My Mind's Eye Indie Chic Nutmeg.  No clue who made the 4th washi, the title is Lily Bee designs.

Bigger than

BG notes, the background papers are Milk and Kettle from Urban Prairie, the rest is Oxford.

About the moment in time... it was hot and the kids had been walking for a while.  There was a fountain meant to be played in on the path and the children were getting their feet and legs wet.  They were loving the fountain.  The awesome monuments in the background were just there.

Back to School

The Challenge: http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2012/09/september-sketch-challenge.html

The paper is all from Authentique Genuine line.  So sad that it's not available anymore.  It's the paper line that got me to notice Authentique Papers and turn them into my #1 favorite.

So this is Andrew's Back to School LO.  The journaling notes that he was most excited to "finally" have his new shoes.

Capital on Foot

Basic Grey Sketch Challenge 8.27.2012: http://blog.basicgrey.com/?p=4065

Paper is all BG Oxford.
I've been trying to make a point to use some of my overstocked and older supplies, on this LO I used a button (overstocked) and eyelets(older)!!!
Pictures are from when I went to show my sister and the kids around DC.  The whole time I planned this walk I did not really believe it was possible the kids would do the entire thing.  I figured at some point we would jump on the subway and go back or catch a tour bus.  They were troopers.  We walked all the way from Foggy Bottom through the Vietnam Memorial, through the Natural History and Modern Art Buildings, a stop for lunch a couple blocks off the mall, up to the Capital Bldg and finally to Union Station to ride the train back to the hotel.  Had a great time and got a lot of fabulous pictures.  I'll probably add one of those project life style pages next to this one in the album filled with just pictures and a little more journaling.

Thanks for looking and cross your fingers that if I'm lucky enough to be drawn to win this challenge that they have another pack of Oxford stashed somewhere in the back :)

Woot, woot!!  It was the winner!

A layout and a card

First up the layout using Authentique Paper LO Sketch Challenge: http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2012/08/august-sketch-challenge.html

Everything but the cardstock is from the Carefree line.

At my boy's school they were asked to make "Flat Stanlys" to look like a native Ohioan to mail to friends and relatives.  After talking Erik out of making a Native American Flat Stanly he decided to make flat stanly look just like him.  I helped him make Stanly's Gii and Orange belt with green stripes, Erik decorated his hair and face.  His Flat Stanly went to Alaska and had quite the adventure with Aunt Christy and Cousin Alexandra.

And a card for the Basic Grey Card Challenge: http://blog.basicgrey.com/?p=3984
I made a card for my good friend Erika's little bundle of joy.  I need to get over to the town she lives in to say hello to the new baby... but life has been keeping me real busy.  Making the card gets me one step closer to being ready to make the trip.

"Sidewalk" Chalk in Calcutta

DCVW stackoholic Challenge August#1

Followed the sketch, why make changes?  It's a good sketch I'm going to follow it.  All the cardstock is from the A Type of Art collection.  I have both the patterned paper and the cardstock collection which is so nice. Things come together much faster when it's all pre-coordinated.

Pictures are from Memorial Day.  The kids put a sun, clouds, flag, hot air balloon and several other items into their masterpiece.  We might have hung out for results but it started to rain just as we were finishing up.

My Mind's Eye 10 photo challenge

After taking the kids on a "Picture Walk" on May 19th we went to the Ice Cream Stand for a treat.  Photos show the boys choosing their flavors and then trading cones.  They also show Liz before and document the drama as I tried and failed to get her to have vanilla.  The Purple shirt was a total loss.

What: August Challenge- 10 photos
When: Due Tuesday August 14th at by midnight
Winner announced: With 2nd challenge on Wednesday,August 15th
Rules: must "look" like it is a MME project, must be created new

Can't "look" anymore MME than this:)  It's almost all Lost and Found Two "Breeze" with just a few pieces of Bazzill and a few brads that may or may not be MME as I don't keep brads in their packaging.

Scrap-o-holic Challenge: http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2012/06/june-stack-holic-challenge
This is the book I have been reading, at the suggestion of our therapist.  As you can see I've had to take a lot of notes.  The papers are all DCVW, journal stamp from Jo-Anne's October Afternoon.  Sentiment stamps are Ali Edwards/technique Tuesday.  Yellow title letters are October Afternoon and the tiny type is from the company that I no longer say nice things about.  LOL

my Machine

my Machine, originally uploaded by msceejay2000.

I've been at the gym a lot. I prefer the 3rd treadmill in the second row. I've noticed all the regulars have a favorite machine. If mine is taken I don't run.

Basic Grey sketch challenge 5.21.12

I finally killed Periphery. I'm really sad about it, it's my favorite all time BG line. I used the entire collection pack, all that is left is scraps. The chipboard, brad and rub-on are Boxer and there is just a little Indian Summer.

Basic Grey Weekly Challenge

SO yesterday I wanted to take the kids out to do something active, they wanted to veg and play video games.  I compromised with them by allowing them to take their DS games and play them on the drive out to Thomlinson Run State Park.  Andrew said the trail was creepy, Lizzie said the ferns tickled.  Erik and Diamond didn't complain.  After some time on Fern Trail we walked down to the water and then came back to town for some ice cream.  I think they had fun.

Create a multi-photo layout.

Awesome!  I've been wanting to use the Basic Grey June Bug kit I got at the last Scrapbook Super Station Crop.  I love their kits, I buy their kits, I forget to scrap their kits.  Finally today I used one and I have to say, worth every penny.

I made only a few adjustments.  I exchanged the multi-color brad flower centers they had included for larger matching ones.  Added a little journal tag.  (<--could be what throws me about SBSS kits, multi photo and no journal spots).  Exchanged the dot on the i for a button, and I fussy cut the one flower to allow it to go over the photo.  I'm thrilled with the results, beautiful paper put together in a terrific kit.

again?! Got Sketch #143

Very cool sketch by the talented Valerie Salmon.

Papers are all MME from the Totally Girl Slab.  Journal tag is MME too, not sure which line.  Title and altered chipboard are Pink Paisley.  Buttons are fresh off a shirt which is too big for me... yea Atkins!  Don't know the manufacturers on the rickrack, cardstock, paper clip or flowers.

My middle child is a little bit rough and tumble, he has skinned up his nose several times.  This incident was caused by playing flash light tag.

Authentique Sketch

http://blog.authentiquepaper.com/2012/05/may-sketch-challenge.html

The equipment for a mudder had us all looking a little strange.  From the wide receiver gloves to the duct tape on the sneakers.  Hair tied back with a bandanna, spandex from wrists to knees.

All the patterned paper is Authentique from the Gathering line.  All the cardstock is core'dinations.  Butterfly punch from Martha Stewert, add wire and beads from unknown source.  Alphas from Target, Cosmo Cricket, and Making memories.   Rick Rak is from Hallos.

The Paper Variety Sketch with October Afternoon papers

http://thepapervariety.blogspot.com/2012/05/specialsketch-challenge.html

Erik Jr and I have been seeing a psychiatrist to work through his extreme moodiness.  I have come to accept that he probably has ADD, along with a not age appropriate ability to handle frustration.  To help ease the ADD symptoms, thus easing the general frustration level, we have begun to drink coffee together in the morning.  I must confess I enjoy having someone to drink coffee with, it's a very nice time for us to calmly plan our day and enjoy conversation.

Please excuse super terrible cell phone picture... and cross your fingers that I am able to recover my good camera at the martial arts school where I left it last night.  My kid isn't the only one with ADD :)

I love sketches and this one is no exception, I followed it almost exactly.  I'm very happy with the results, I'll use this sketch again.

Papers are mostly October Afternoon from the 5 & Dime collection with a couple from Boarding Pass and maybe even a little sidewalk.  I've got it all in one envelope and I'm starting to forget what belongs with what.    Stickers and elements are also OA from the same lines.  Only exceptions being the DYNO journal strips, the strip of red polka dot washi and the twine from sew easy.

Basic Grey NSD Sketch

The picture of the picture is never as good as just the picture... so you'll have to take my word for it.  Andrew sticks out his bottom lip when he is concentrating.  We bought the shoes on the 3rd or 4th, on the fifth it was still taking a lot of effort to get them tied.  So cute.

Anyhow, I followed the sketch pretty precisely as you can see. I even had the ribbons on the upper right, but they just didn't work and I damaged the paper trying to make them work so I added the circle and pop dotted and stickled the bumble bee.  He's too cute not to embellish.

The paper is all BG Urban Prairie with the exception of the mats being bazzil bling and the beige circles being coredinations.  A couple random buttons, a little floss, a random ribbon and the DYMO I don't use hardly enough for journaling.  Circles, scallops, title, etc all cut with MTC on the Gazelle.

Basic Grey Card

Papers are from BG Scarlet's Letters
I got to play with my new alcohol markers on the stamps.
Fun, fun.  Definitely a learning curve to these things, all in good time.

Got Sketch? Fifth Birthday Sketch

http://gotsketch.blogspot.com/2012/04/challenge-5-year-anniversary-sketch-142.html

Cute sketch, followed it pretty precisely accept for changing up the photos.  Everything except the washi (M's) and buttons (no clue) is from the Little Yellow Bicycle Travel line.  Turned out awesome.

October Afternoon Challenge

Ha!  I did it!  I am on a roll! It's mostly October Afternoon 5 & Dime.  The Twine is from Farmhouse (also OA) and the Guyz is from some very old OA I had lying around, no clue which line.  Both cardstocks are coredination's.  I pretty much followed the sketch,  I was a bit worried that I was adding too much stuff and it was becoming a hot mess... but I like it.

Basic Grey Challenge

The Challenge:  http://blog.basicgrey.com/?p=2608

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE : Use Patterned Paper As Your Layout Background.

My submission:
The background is Basic Grey, Scarlet's Letters, Love Notes.  The title also came from the Scarlet's Letters collection, they were in random patterns.  I altered them with acrylic paint, added ribbon and a button.  In my continued efforts to use what is old... the date is on an old foam piece from Making Memories and I used two small stickers.  And to use what is new... the Washi tape on the photo has only been in my possession for a couple days.  Some card stock, ink, foam tape, and flowers round out the supplies list.

Basic Grey Challenge

Please excuse crazy clone strip on the left side. I can assure you the layout is square, but my ability to take a square picture was terrible today. It's the last day of the challenge so I am sucking up the bad photo and entering anyhow.

Cool thing I noticed while digging out the Urban Prairie paper pad... which I knew had the perfect colors for our Easter. Basic Grey is super ahead of their time. This pad is at least a year, possibly two or three old. It's filled with the same color scheme as the brand new October Afternoon, bees and hexagons. Could be a brand new release.

Anyhow the challenge was scallops, I fought a good fight with MTC trying to make the scallop layers exactly what I imagined. It's hard to tell in the photo but there's also 3 layers of partially welded, and completely welded title pieces. I really need to use MTC and the cutter more often, it's getting to the point where I've forgotten more than I know. I glossy accented the black for a super slick look.

The only non BG Urban Prairie parts are the journal box from Luxe and the Washi tape date spot from the Smash book line.

I love Authentique Paper

My Entry:

In addition to some black cardstock, a little stickles and mist, some backers twine, a smash tape calendar spot, and the tag... everything else is Authentique Paper from the Blissful line.  The Background is from the bi-fold from Blissful.  The Honeycombs are cut from the ruler paper, the banner from the dots.  The Title was premade and just enhanced with some mist and tracing over the words to make them pop.
